A Blog or Web log is basically an online journal that is frequently updated. Blogs usually appear in reverse chronological order with the most recent entry appearing first.
A little history here…
It is recorded that the first blog was Links.net – which was created by Justin Hall, while he was a Swarthmore College student in 1994. Of course, at that time it was referred to as his personal homepage.
It was three years later in 1997 that the term “weblog” was coined and it has been attributed to Jorn Barger.
Weblog was then shortened to “blog” in 1999 by a programmer named Peter Merholz.
The web has changed in recent times and blogs have gained recognition, today blogs can be used for news, networking, business and personal like travel, food and hobbies to name a few.
Blogging is for anyone interested in sharing their stories with just a few clicks of a mouse and a keyboard therefore allowing anyone to do it.
A blog is more often a single page of entries and visible to the public.
Your word count should be at least 500 words so as to make clicking worth the reader’s time. A blog post used to be short and sometimes only a few sentences.
Search engines prefer substance!
Visual stimulation is an important aspect of blogging so where and when possible try to include images. Try responding to comments as this helps to build interaction with your readers.
